In the last year, midfielder Samantha Mewis has gone from a supporting player to a key figure in Jill Ellis' lineup. So far in 2017, she has played the second-most minutes of any player - behind only Becky Sauerbrunn - and scored an important goal against Brazil at the 2017 Tournament of Nations.
The U.S. WNT and Australia will kick off the 2017 Tournament of Nations in Seattle tonight as the two sides meet for the first time since the opening game of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
